Farewell Matt Rogers - thanks for Cronulla nearly winning a grand final (Again)

This next few weeks we say farewell to Matt Rogers. Matt is of course currently a utility back being able to fill in as 5/8, centre winger or fullback. Unfortunately for Matt the titans "were not able to find room under the salary cap" for his $200,000pa year. Strange really since they were offering $600,000pa for Greg Inglis last week, who is also a centre but is no where near as versatile.

Matt had a long career, born and bred in Sydney, with all his junior league for in the Shire before eventually settling into and making the under 20s grade for Cronulla. Eventually going onto play rep football for teh first time in Rugby for the NSW Warratahs. After such a long history based in Sydney, and with a family heritage firmly based in the Shire, naturally Matt was selected for Queensland 'Origin'. Pretty much the same as Greg Inglis really, so maybe the Titans thought they were bidding for Matt's love child?

Who knows, but one thing is for certain something smells about the Inglis deal. How can any club legitimately afford to pay $600,000 for a centre when the going rate is around $200,000 for a rep centre. It smells worse than the bins at the fish markets.

This is yet another case of where News Limited and the Queensland Rugby League are joining forces to ensure that their own self interests are served rather than the interests of the game. Did for instance the QLD Former origin greats (Who stumped up $30grand to keep Inglis in the game and in queensland) offer their top up cash to the Titans or the Cowboys, nope. Will there be an investigative journalist from the Terrograph sitting down to work out have the 5 grand bag system works in Brisbane - another negative.

If on the other hand you were playing with the Broncos you would be cashed up and you could be licking windows, interfering with farm animals and occasionally shitting yourself at the Casino all without a mention in the papers or on fox. Theodore Roosevelt is famous for having said "its better to be faithful than famous" of course Homer Simpson said "Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless." Which one of those famous peoples quotes did you follow I wonder Matt?

So farewell Matt - sorry you had to leave us but its your own fault for not staying loyal to your employer.
